ONE OF THE MOST BELOVED TERRITORIES IN TUSCANY

Do you want to enjoy the classic Tuscan experience in a place with views that will literally take your breath away? Are you hoping to reconnect with yourself by living a life close to nature?
Well, the Val d’Orcia is the place for you.

In Tuscany, between the Provincia di Siena and Provincia di Grosseto, near the border of Umbria and North-East of Mount Amiata, lies the enchanting Val d’Orcia.
Taking its name from the Orcia River, which is part of its rich landscape. The experience of this countryside offers views that will literally take your breath away.

Since July 2, 2004 the valley itself has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, due to the splendid panorama and the way it has been preserved. In fact, the Unesco World Heritage Commission justified the dedication with the following words on the inclusion list:
“Criterion (iv): the Val d’Orcia is an exceptional example of how the natural landscape was redesigned in the Renaissance period to reflect the ideals of good governance and to create an aesthetically pleasing image;”
“Criterion (vi): the landscape of the Val d’Orcia was celebrated by the painters of the Sienese School, which flourished during the Renaissance. The images of the Val d’Orcia and in particular the reproductions of its landscapes, in which people are depicted living in harmony with nature, have become icons of the Renaissance and have profoundly influenced the way of thinking about the landscape in future years. ”

Added to this is the recognition of this area as a Protected Natural Area of Local Interest (ANPIL) since 1999 covering an area of 18,500 hectares.

From the climatic point of view this territory is characterized by hot summers, relatively cold winters that make life in this area very pleasant, while at the same time allowing one to enjoy during all the seasons of the year a nature in continuous change with beautiful colors and vitality.

The Val d ‘Orcia is one of the Tuscan territories that makes a memorable impression on tourists. Its evocative, almost surreal atmosphere of unspoiled nature and the many characteristic medieval villages in the area create this renown “paessaggio.”

The territory is coveted by foreigners and Italians for the many activities it offers, such as spas where you can relax, the beautiful celebrated villages to visit, good food, famous wines and needless to say the continuous contact with open space offering reinforcement of a relaxed lifestyle.
